Hi! I’m Jo Meyer, an artist and miniature enthusiast. I was born in Reggio, Italy where I studied art and restoration. I also trained in New York City, and later worked on the restoration of early Renaissance paintings and abstract art. I painted in large scale for years until a miniaturist commissioned me to paint van Gogh’s “ Starry Night “ for her dollhouse. My love for the works of the Old Masters – Renoir, Monet and Degas, to name a few – is only matched by my love for the world of Miniatures. By combining the two, I am able to produce extraordinary art for you to display in your dollhouse. Wouldn’t van Gogh’s “Irises” look magnificent in your parlor? I offer a wide selection of impressionist art. Or perhaps you’d like to see one of your favorite paintings reproduced in miniature. Like the Masters, I work in oils on treated wood panel, giving great attention to the subtle mixing, blending and application of color and surface texture to achieve greater naturalism and also capture the play of light on the surface of objects. I personally complete each painting using no tracing or photographic imaging of any kind making each one unique. Most frames are handcrafted using wood moldings and sometimes a gold leaf application, though a few frames are cast resin. For over twenty years, I’ve been painting fine miniatures, and achieved Artisan status in IGMA (International Guild of Miniature Artisans) on October 2001. You may have seen my paintings in Miniature Collector Magazine, Doll House Miniature, IGMA Exhibits or various miniature shows in the United States I’ve recently added a line of painted accessories such as serving trays, baskets, boxes, screens and some Monet inspired furniture. Feel free to E-Mail me with any questions.
